Critical reception
John Bush of AllMusic gave the album 4 stars out of 5, calling it "a delightful album, especially for those interested in the history of synthesizers and music recordings ('60s Perrey pioneers & Kingsley is probably the best reference point)." Tim Perry of The Independent said, "Plone mixes warm electronica with global sensitivity." Ryan Schreiber from Pitchfork gave the album 5.4 out of 10, saying: "Like so many songs sold to hip marketing campaigns today, you can listen to one of For Beginner Piano > i> ' s ten songs for hours without noticing they were there.
