The flowers came forward during President Bill Clinton's 1992 election campaign, which stated that he had a 12-year relationship with him.
After Clinton denied having a relationship with the Flower at <60 Minutes, he held a press conference in which he played a recording he did secretly from a phone call with Clinton. Clinton later apologized to Mario Cuomo for the comments he made about the New York Governors on the recording. During the press conference, the famous Flower was asked a few questions by "Stutter John" Melendez from the Howard Stern Show if she plans to sleep with other candidates before the election, together if Clinton uses condoms and if ever threesome. He responded with a laugh at John's Stuttering joke while his counselor wanted to ignore it by trying to answer another question. News reports at the time speculated that telephone conversations recorded between Flowers and Clinton might have been dealt with; Flowers have sold original tapes to Star and they have never been tested in labs. Clinton's aides James Carville and George Stephanopoulos support this claim as well. Stephanopoulos later claimed in a 2000 interview with reporter Tim Russert that "Oh, it's really his voice, but they are selectively edited in a way - to create some - some impressions.
In December 1996, Flowers talked about his sexual relationship with Clinton on The Richard Bey Show. The show was canceled the next day. Bey then connects a direct connection between two consecutive events.
In a deposition in January 1998, while rejecting Kathleen Willey's sexual charges against her, Clinton admitted that she had sex with Flowers. In his 2004 autobiography My Life Clinton acknowledged under oath that he had sexual intercourse with Flowers. He declared it only on one occasion in 1977. (Note that Clinton had married his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in October 1975).
Flowers sued Stephanopoulos, Carville, and others in 1999 for defamation (later changing the lawsuit in 2000 to include Hillary Clinton as defendants), claiming that they set up a campaign to discredit him. Judicial Watch represented him in a libel suit against former Bill Clinton aides, Stephanopoulos and Carville. In his case, Bunga argued that the defendants ignored the obvious warning signs that television news reports did not exactly specify that someone had interrupted the tape. The summary of the ruling that rejected the case was granted by the US District Court in 2004. The dismissal was affirmed by the US Court of Appeals for Circuit 9 in 2006.
