My French coach and my Spanish language trainer is an educational game developed by Sensory Sweep Studios and published by Ubisoft for Nintendo DS, iOS, PlayStation Portable, and Wii. Gameplay My French Coach and My Spanish coach consists of players completing lessons that introduce new vocabulary and then focus on mastery of words through some puzzle games. As the player progresses through the game, the words add to the difficulty. When first starting the game, players take a preliminary test that measures their initial level of understanding from French or Spanish. Players are then placed to a level that reflects the score they received on the test. A player who scores high will be able to get through many early levels and more basic concepts. When starting the lesson, players are shown ten new words, including nouns, verbs, adjectives, or adverbs, as well as proper meaning and disclosure.
After this, players are offered a choice of eight minigames to test their knowledge of the words given in the lesson. This Minigame is Multiple Choice, Hit-A-Word, Word Find, Flash Card, Empty Content, Memory, Bridge Builder, and Spelltastic. In Multiple Options, players must select the correct French or Spanish translations of the four options within a limited time frame. Hit-A-Word is a Whac-A-Mole game in which the player must hit at most moles with the correct translation of the English word within the stipulated time. Whenever a player answers a question correctly or solves a puzzle in a minigame, they get a "mastery point" on the word they are able to answer. Minigames can be improved in difficulty; on a higher difficulty level, players will gain more mastery points when successfully completing the minigame. For example, in Multiple Options, players have 50 seconds to choose the answer to the question on the "Easy" difficulty, and will accept two master points for each correct answer. On the "Medium" difficulty, the player has 40 seconds to choose the answer and receive three master points for each correct answer. The process continues until players get fifteen master points for each word, allowing players to move on to the next lesson. After completing all fifty lessons, players can continue to learn new words through "open lessons" containing ten words of each new vocabulary; dictionaries from both games each have nearly 10,000 words. Players can freely access the reference section, which contains dictionaries and phrase books, anytime. Both dictionaries and phrasebooks hold all the words and phrases in each game, as well as the meanings and audio files for both; players can view different categories of words and phrases, use the search function, and mark the selected phrases.

My French coach and my Spanish coach have received generally favorable reviews from some video game publications. At Metacritic, a website that collects scores from various video game reviews, my Spanish trainer received 73/100, based on seven reviews. In a review of the DS version of the two games, IGN referred to them as "a great learning experience" and a more entertaining alternative to traditional French and Spanish learning methods such as "[h] boring and obsolete training". Eurogamer claims that this game is not a substitute for appropriate language lessons, but acknowledges that "as a tool to improve your language skills, whether you start from scratch or have basic knowledge, they are great". In the DS version review of My French Coach , Nintendo World Report calls this game "not the hottest game ever in your DS, but it is a very fine product that reaches edutainment holy grail - it makes learning be easy and fun ". Gameplay received mixed criticism from critics. In a PSP version review of my Spanish coach IGN noted that gaining control points in minigames leads to "quite a bit of grinding" due to the repetitive structure of the game. Nevertheless, the IGN accepts that repetition is an effective way of learning vocabulary, and notes that "[p] licks on such things as gender and age, the actual emphasis and destruction of the language itself and the manner in which a proper/casual conversation is made. quite clear and reinforced regularly ".
