In the financial markets, stocks are units used as mutual funds, limited partnerships, and real estate investment confidence.
The corporation issues the shares offered for sale in order to increase the share capital. The shareholder in the corporation is the shareholder (or shareholder) of the corporation. Terminology
- Outstanding shares are those authorized by the government, issued by the company, and held by a third party. The number of shares outstanding times the stock price gives the firm market capitalization, which if the trading price remains constant will be enough to buy the company.
- Treasury shares are authorized, issued and held by the company itself.
- The issued shares are the number of outstanding shares and treasury shares.
- Authorized shares include those issued (by the board of directors or shareholders) and not published but authorized by the company's constitutional documents.
Tax treatment
The treatment of dividend taxation varies between tax jurisdictions. For example, in India, the tax-free dividend is in the hands of shareholders up to Rs 10 lakh, but the company paying the dividend must pay the dividend distribution tax of 12.5%. There is also the concept of dividends that are considered, which are not tax-exempt. Furthermore, Indian tax laws include provisions to stop stripping dividends.
Historically, investors were given stock certificates as proof of their ownership of shares. In modern times, certificates are not always granted and ownership can be recorded electronically by systems such as CREST or DTCC, central securities storage.
