North Kent College

North Kent College is a college of Advanced and Higher Education located on campuses in Dartford and Gravesend, Kent, UK, with Partner College status with University of Greenwich, especially the Greenwich Maritime Institute. Its original constituents include Gravesend Technical College and National Sea Training School (NSTC).

Each campus has different specialist areas, but Computing and Information Technology, Foundation Studies, Hair and Beauty, Office Administration, Secretarial Studies and Sports and Entertainment Management are discussed on Dartford and Gravesend campuses.

Dartford Campus

Oakfield Lane, Dartford is the largest campus location. It houses the main administrative center and the largest number of students, including most college education colleges. It specializes in Access to Higher Education, Accounting, Art and Design, Business, Retail Management and Studies, Professional Care, Media, Multimedia, Performing Arts, Photography, Public Service and Sports.

Gravesend Campus

Ringing Way, Gravesend is the second largest campus. Specializing in Air Conditioning, Construction and Building Services, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Electronic, Hotel and Catering, Motor Vehicles, Refrigeration and Travel and Tourism.

SusCon Center

SusCon is a continuous construction training and research center used to demonstrate sustainable building materials, technologies and techniques.

Learning Stores, Bluewater

The Learning Shop is a joint initiative between the colleges, the Department of Employment and Retirement and the Bluewater Shopping Center, which aims to support local communities with skills at work, such as Customer Service Training, C. Writing and Support with Retail Interviewing Techniques.

National Maritime Training Center, Gravesend

The National Maritime Training Center covers a wide range of areas, including;

• Maritime First Aid and Bridge Team
• Fire Brigade
• Marine Engineering
• Seamanship

Student Facilities

Refectories and 'Student Zones'

Both Dartford and Gravesend Campuses contain large open dining areas for all students on campus, as well as corner shops and Costa Coffee stalls.

There is also a 'Student Zone' in refectories that offer Pool and Table Tennis facilities.

NKC Student Union

All students are encouraged to take part in the Student Union, and their 'Learner Voice' initiative that encourages students to share their views on how to make college a better place.

Both Gravesend and Dartford campuses contain a large number of facilities that are open to students and the general public.

The nursery begins brightly and preschool

Both Dartford and Gravesend campuses have a specially constructed childcare facility that focuses on creating a health education environment for children.

Inspiration Hair Salon

There is a hair and beauty salon located on the campus of Dartford and Gravesend run by students on campus.

Poor Radio

Poor Radio is a radio station run by media students on campus to provide them with a lively working environment. It focuses on the North Kent area.

Poor Theater

The Poor Theater is located within Dartford Campus and provides training for young actors, musicians, dancers and technicians.

Gallery Restaurant

Gallery restaurant is located at Gravesend Campus and offers a variety of dishes, all prepared and served by students on campus.

Important facts

Universities have some important achievements; it was a leading trainer of staff for merchant mariners and in 1999 the college was the first UK educational institution to start a full-time Higher Education course in Professional writing.

The college also broke the world record in September 2015 to celebrate their name change from 'North West Kent College' to 'North Kent College'. They managed to break the record of the biggest human currency symbol on Dartford Campus
